Manufacturers and dealers are always trying their best to get their products out before the public to boost sales. One of the best ways to do that is to provide bloggers with a free sample of their product in hopes that they can get a review. Review sites or blogs, especially the more popular ones, have readers that visit daily to see what’s hot in a particular niche such as electronics, computer hardware, software or digital cameras. Any niche you can think of will probably have a site that reviews products in it.

Since I write about moneymaking programs and working online on this blog I get free items almost daily that internet marketers want me to try and then review. I have been getting free products since almost the beginning of this blog. This is stuff that people pay hundreds of dollars to get and I get it for free. PayPal and Banks in the Philippines

On his website Life in the Philippines, my friend Louden, did a recent post on how to use PayPal in the Philippines. This is important because PayPal is one way to have access to your money while retiring in the Philippines. If you are making money online while living there PayPal is the best alternative for getting paid. Ebay uses it and all the affiliate programs I work with use it.

In this article Louden stresses the importance of working with a bank within the Philippines that will accept PayPal. Even though there are many reputable banks in that country not all will be PayPal friendly. Louden uses Union Bank of the Philippines for his transactions and it doesn’t look like he’s had a problem with them. There is a bank number that PayPal requires and I suspect is the routing number just like we have here in the U.S. One of the great things about his post is that he provides the number you need for many of the banks within the Philippines. I use PNB (Philippine National Bank) which has branches in the U.S. close to where I live. We have an account and try to stay active with deposits so there shouldn’t be a problem in the Philippines. Another Day In The Dot Com Lifestyle

A few weeks back I posted about the Dot Com Lifestyle as described by John Chow and the advantages of living it. Today, as I was going through my day I reflected on how I am really living that lifestyle. After a wonderful weekend with family and friends I recall Sunday as a very good day. The main reason it was a good day was because I didn’t have to worry about going to work on Monday. This alone to me is worth doing what I do. I never was a Monday person until I got out of the rat race and begin living the Dot Com Life. Now I look forward to every day and what the day will bring me.

Today, Monday, I woke at about 9am did a couple of hours of computer work and got ready for my dentist appointment. It wasn’t too bad just a cleaning and check up. After the dentist I had to stop at the wine supply store to pick up some home winemaking supplies. While there I sat down with the owner and we sampled a few sips of his latest batches and discussed wine and other pleasures of life. After about an hour or so I was on my way but needed to make a stop at the local coffee shop for my daily coffee and I met an 82 year old friend of mine who wanted to talk about the news. By the way I’ve noticed that around my city the only people who are in coffee shops and such places are all older folks. The younger ones are off working so that someday in their 60′s, 70′s, or 80′s they will be able to kick back during the day and have coffee and discuss the news. I’m so glad I don’t have to wait that long to enjoy life. So now I’m back home to spend a couple of hours updating my websites and checking stats. Maybe later I’ll sneak in a nap and go out to eat.

I’m not trying to brag, well just a little, but what I’m trying to do is show you that life is not all about working everyday coming home tired and getting ready to go back tomorrow. I’m just an ordinary guy who through no fault of his own dropped out of the rat race and decided not to go back. There are thousands of people out there doing it and you can be one of them. Or you can get up tomorrow go to your job and make whatever someone thinks you are worth. Think about it, is that any way to live?

July Fourth in the Philippines

Prior to 1964 the United States and the Philippines shared July 4th as Independence Day. Of course, the U.S. was celebrating its Declaration of Independence from England , but what was the Philippines celebrating on that day?

Many thought that the Philippine Independence Day should be considered as July 4, 1946 when the Treaty of Manila was signed. This treaty signed in Manila provided for the recognition of the independence of the Republic of the Philippines and the relinquishment of American sovereignty over the Philippine Islands.

Historians and Philippine nationalists believed the true Independence Day for the Philippines should be June 12th 1898 when General Emilio Aquinaldo and his Filipino revolutionary forces proclaimed the sovereignty and independence of the Philippine Islands from Spain. On August 4, 1964 President Macapagal signed Republic Act No. 4166 designating June 12th as Philippine Independence Day. Prior to that June 12th had been observed as Flag Day.

A Money Making Club

On his website Maverick Money Making , Mack Michaels talks about a day in December , in fact December 7th , his birthday which he will remember all his life. On that December 7th he was laid off from his job and had no money in the bank and nowhere to turn. He had planned on buying his wife a special gift that Christmas but after that day he was worried more about keeping a roof over their heads rather than getting Christmas presents.

That day he went home and decided he couldn’t live the life he had been living which had been work hard while hardly getting by, living paycheck to paycheck. He decided before he went out and got another job he hated he would make a list of what he wanted and what he didn’t want in a job. The list of what he didn’t want included such things as being on someone else’s time clock, didn’t want to wake to an alarm clock, didn’t want to spend more time away from home and other things that a normal 9 to 5 rat race job gives you. What he did want was such things as being able to do something he enjoyed by working only a few hours a day and travel whenever he wanted. He even set a goal of being able to make as much money as a doctor.

Does any of this sound familiar to any of you? Let me tell you I was in the same situation as Mack just a year ago. What do we do go out and find another JOB and wait for the next layoff or firing? Do we work until we get into our sixties or our health fails whatever comes first, or do we find something that we want to do on our own hours so we can spend the rest of the time enjoying life? Philippine Festivals: Balsa Festival

For a day in the latter part of May the beach at Matabungkay, a picturesque coastal village in the town of Lian, Batangas, is the home for the Balsa Festival. A Balsa is a flat raft made of timber or other buoyant material such as bamboo used by people that lived along coasts or riverbanks long ago. These floats were used for transportation along shallow waters and for fisherman to get from the beach to their fishing boats and back. The balsa floats are propelled by a long bamboo pole that is long enough to reach down to the sandy beach floor and pushing off that floor. During the Balsa festival, one of the more fun Philippine festivals, there is plenty of food and refreshments as well as numerous displays and boat races. A Cultural Dance Competition tops off the festival and is something you should see. If you are in the area of Lian, Batangas please spend a day at the beach for the Balsa Festival.
