Places to Retire: Bohol

One of the first things you will notice about Bohol is the beauty. This province located in Central Visaya is true beauty. From the Chocolate Hills to the beautiful beaches and water this is definitely some place you could kick back and enjoy retirement in.

Bohol consists of 75 surrounding islands as well as the major island, Bohol Island. Bohol is the tenth largest island of the Philippines with a land area of 4,117 square km (1,590 sq mi) with coastlines of 261 km (162 mi) long. Bohol is east of Cebu and southwest of Leyte with Mindanao being just across the Bohol Sea.
Bohol is a popular tourist destination due to its beaches and resorts. The island of Panglao noted as one of the top ten diving locations in the world also is home to many diving centers and diving spots. The Chocolate Hills, so named because during the summer the effect of the grass on them turning brown makes it look like they are topped with chocolate, are another popular tourist attraction.

The climate of Bohol can be described as dry with rainy season happening between the months of June and October. Getting away from the coast you will experience a little bit cooler weather in the interior of the island. Census figures in 2000 showed a population of 1,137,268 Boholanos with an expected growth rate of 2.92%. The main language spoken is Boholana which is a dialect of Cebuano but there are plenty of speakers of English and Tagalog on the island. I was reading an article on the web about the price of airfare and came upon a site about this guy who was fired from one of the major airlines. He was pretty upset with them so he decided to get back at them and expose all of their secrets to people so they could get cheaper airfare and it just so happens he got rich doing it. He even had death threats against him because I guess he let out some stuff that he shouldn’t have. If you want to read about I suggest you click here.
